Have An Electrician Look At Your Electrical Wiring

There is one emergency that should terrify homeowners more than any other emergency, and that is a house fire. In 2015 there were approximately 500,000  structure fires, that caused approximately 2,000 deaths, 13,000 more injuries, and $10.3 in total property damage. One of of the key contributors to these numbers are electrical fires. Electrical fires account for approximately 51,000 fires each year. Once again this is a terrifying number, but it begs to ask the question why. There must be a reason that this many fires have been started by electrical problems. One of the main reasons is that electrical components in a house are old or obsolete. Here are a few times when it is wise to talk to an electrician from a place like DCS Electric

Out Of Date Electrical Components

If you have been living in the same home for over 20 years and have not had your electrical components inspected, the time to do it is now. There are often updates to the power grid, and new electrical equipment in the home is able to handle such upgrades. Another way to tell very quickly if your electrical needs updating is if you do not have three prong outlets. If you live in an older home and the outlets are not three pronged, then call your electrician.

Breaker Problems

If you have been noticing that your breaker trips more often than it should, it could be the wiring is simply not doing a good enough job. If you have old wiring then there are a plethora of problems that can occur. Having your breaker flip continuously means that there is something seriously wrong. The breaker is going to trip to prevent fires and other electrical problems. Before you turn flip the breaker box back on, you should call the electrician so they can determine the cause of the problem.

After a remodel you should have an electrician look at your electrical work. If you did the remodel yourself, you should consult with a electrician before and after the remodel. However, even if a contractor completed the remodel, you should have another electrician look at the electrical work to ensure that it is completely safe. There is nothing wrong with getting a second pair of trained eyes on your electrical system. With so many house fires and so many of them being caused by electrical problems, you can never be to careful when it comes to your electrical work.
